Sony Film Festival

Sony Australia is one of the few brands that follow you through your whole life in every area of your life, from childhood handheld cameras to giant TVs and gaming consoles in your grown up apartment…

Redscope Films have been working with the technology giant since 2017, we create content for web and social media, film events and most recently created the creative and assets for the Film Festival campaign also coinciding with the launch of the new cinema line camera the FX6.

When we were first introduced to the FX6 Cinema Line Camera, we were immediately flooded with a nostalgic feeling and wanted to link the omnipresent nature of the Sony brand through our lives with the struggles and successes we’ve experienced personally as film makers.

’THE DREAMERS’ is a story focused on the camera but importantly, it’s a tale told by us“Dreamers”.

If we’re honest, this campaign is really our story, embodied in three characters dreaming about being a director, filmmaker and storyteller. We loved exploring our memories and using the Sony cameras to explore this creatively.

There are definitely some “oh no” and “oh yes” moments any film maker or someone working in the creative industries will resonate with.

We are grateful to Sony Australia for the gift of working with them.
We dedicate this campaign to all the dreamers, storytellers and filmmakers.

‘THE DREAMERS’ | Sony FX6 Cinema Line Camera Campaign Launch

‘The Dreamers’ is a story many filmmakers know too well, the decades of hustle, the self-doubt and the career defining moments. Filmed exclusively with the FX6 camera we put it to good use, mounting it on cars and flying it in the air chasing our characters.

This is our documentary about making The Dreamers. This film is 10 minutes from the hard working Redscope Crew, they take you behind the scenes of the film, discuss the merits of the camera and expand on the story explaining how we created these cinematic shots.

WHAT WE DID FOR THEM?

Sony Australia appointed Redscope Films to create an advert that would appeal to film makers and creatives for the upcoming 2021 Sony Film Festival. The client asked that the piece include the new cinema line camera, as well as be filmed exclusively with it, and we would also need to simultaneously film a documentary to use as additional content for the wider sales campaign for the FX6 camera.

The Redscope Team divided into three groups and we pitched Sony 3 creative ideas. They loved the idea of The Dreamers, and including touch points from childhood into adulthood showing the evolution of the Sony brand parallel with the characters’ coming of age.
